Markoff maintained his innocence of all charges and pleaded not guilty at his arraignment. A grand jury indicted Markoff for first-degree murder, armed robbery, and other charges.On August 15, 2010, the Suffolk County Sheriff reported that Markoff died of an apparent suicide in Boston’s Nashua Street Jail, where he was being held in custody awaiting trial. Lifetime tries to piece together his story in its original film “The Craigslist Killer,” scheduled for Jan. 3 at 9 p.m. The film, based on Herald contributor Michele McPhee’s book “A Date With Death,” re-creates the sensational details from the crimes that rattled Boston and the Craigslist community.

He had a very promising future and engaged to be married.The district attorney later confirmed the cause of death as suicide. Markoff’s death while in custody raised concerns about the safety of inmates in Massachusetts prisons, which currently has a death rate four times higher than the national average.Police said Brisman put up a fight when the killer attempted to tie up her wrists and rob her, police said. In surveillance photos released yesterday, the murder suspect is seen wearing a black jacket with dark slacks and typing on a BlackBerry as he got off the escalator at the Marriott.
